Our Story

Our story begins in the 1970's, when I experienced the renovation of my family's home on the shores of Big Cedar Lake. At that time I knew I had found my calling -- to design and build high-end custom homes.

In 1984, my wife Lisa and I founded Moore Designs with the goal of eventually evolving into a architectural design/build firm and home remodeling company. In the beginning, we employed a crew of three carpenters who performed framing carpentry services on a subcontracted basis. We also designed and built homes which we sold on speculation.

During the next several years we experienced many milestones. Our first design/build contract for a new custom home was commissioned; we hired our first in-house architectural designer, and offered our first model home. In '96, we performed our first major home renovation. 2001 was the first year we had a home published in a magazine. And, in 2003, we designed and built our first Parade home in the MBA’s Parade Of Homes which earned honors for overall quality, interior design as well as the coveted People’s Choice Award. That year we also celebrated the grand opening of our first luxury condominium development. In 2015, we moved to our new office/studio location in Germantown, Wisconsin. Shortly thereafter, we celebrated 35 years in business and our son, Grant Moore, graduating with a degree in Industrial and System’s Engineering from Lehigh University, joined our team in 2019.

Today, Moore Designs employs 10 permanent design and administrative staff and 15+ construction professionals, many of whom have been with us for 20 years and more. We build and remodel homes from our designs or from designs created through other architectural firms. Our responsive, friendly staff and intimate office setting remain ideal for collaborating with you to produce your vision of what your home should be. My belief in the hands on approach as well as our considerable knowledge of current building materials and methods adds tremendous value to your custom home today and for generations to come.
